“Bad For Business” p09
I think “Sidekick Camp” begs its own storyline at some point. Ah, Brody. Fanboy-ism does have its longterm benefits, eh?
Things have never looked grimmer at the Hero Business offices. How’s this all gonna sort itself out, Heroites?!? Will the staff ever be able to trust Parker again?!
it’s rather disturbing the way mommy is smiling in the shadows
Ooh–tough break, kid.
I have my suspicions as to what noble reasons Parker had for going along with her mother’s plans, but I’ll keep them to myself to avoid spoiling anything. My impression is Parker’s still one of the good guys.
Morgan really should be smarter than this.
Ah well.
… it remains to be seen if she actually was working with her mother on anything.
It looks to me as though her mother only used her to her ends without Parker actually knowing about it – or at least only had reason to be suspicious so far.
With Parker being a young women pretty much trying to start her own life, which means standing on her own two feet away from her parents, and her mother being the seriously calculating super-villian type, one could think about a few scenarios of what is going down here.
I, for one, don’t believe Parker being evil either, which would certainly have railed her mother especially if she wanted for her daughter to follow in her footsteps. Since supervillians take it very badly if they fail to acquire what they strive to achieve for believing to be superioer is part of the package of being a supervillian, the mother certainly would be holding a grudge against her daugther.
This could translate as wanting to give her a lesson. For instance teaching her that she can’t get off the hook easily by prooving how long a mothers reach can be.
This would mean:
The take over is mainly a means to an end, because it actually was about preventing Parker to get out of her mothers clutches.
Hence, Parker being surprised, trying to talk herself out of the trouble, her mother doing everything to denounce her, and grinning when her plan bears fruit.
Also, why would Parker look thunderstruck when fired, if she didn’t actually want to work there.
Huh, that camp is far more useful than I would have anticipated. Teaching campers to pick locks would be far better than simply teaching them to be kidnapped and asking dumb questions so the hero can show their smarts
Hmm…I wonder what else they would teach at a side-kick summer camp…
How to fire a laser cannon, perhaps?
I can picture mother dearest there going dance, dance little puppets if it wasn’t so undignified.
Ouch. The more plot twists, and more intrigue!
I love how Malefactor has a completely opposite idea of what the foul deed was in Brody’s tale. He probably isn’t bothered by Parker kidnapping Brody, or even by the takeover. But giving the good guys the ability to defend themselves? Scandalous!
Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if Malefactor told Parker to use him as a reference on her way out or offered her a job on some villainous side project he has going.
