“Frenemy Mine” p13
The plot thickens! Who spiked Morgan’s drink with the magic cat elixir?
Simon?
Bravado?
Dr. Malefactor?
Louie the Lounge Lizard?
Trixie Templeton?
Wallflower?
Bud?
Bug Boy?
Minor Spoiler?
That sleazy sh1 host?
or… someone else?
The answer, next week!
Also, be on the lookout this weekend for a special Hero Business announcement! It’s our first ever “suggestion box” event, Heroites, where you the fans can submit ideas around a theme — with the results to run during our second Temp Month! Stay Tuned!
My first bet would be Parker herself since she’s not exactly being honest with her past (no spoilers here, go read previous storylines). Malefactor is another possibility but what does he gain from this… aside from a good chuckle at others expense. As for the guys, I highly doubt it.
Minor Spoiler or Wallflower? Seems likely.
Have we overlooked some clue in previous pages?
I’d go with Parker or Wallflower.
Parker because of [INFORMATION THAT WOULD SPOIL IT FOR NEWCOMERS SO BILL AND SEASONED READERS WILL HAVE TO KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT] and because she’s been closer to Morgan since the night began.
Wallflower because she’s obviously bitter about being overshadowed by her teammates, she and her plant companion were close to Morgan when she set her drink down, and because Morgan being exposed as Hex Kitten in public would make things increasingly difficult for both Morgan and Glamazon, the perfect way to stick it to them for treating her like a gopher. Her self-satisfied grin when Morgan transformed is a likely indicator of this. The same could be said of Malefactor, but he’s a reformed villain (mostly) but he’s probably just enjoying the insanity of the night.
They could even be working together.
Squawk girl is also a former teammate of theirs, so she might be bitter too for reasons that may be revealed later. Also, Malefactor still harbors resentment for the hero community, thus giving him a motivation for causing this as well.
Parker. Wallflower is a maybe but this “tawdry display” would only give Kitty and Glam more attention. Glamazon is an attention strumpet. Anything that shows off her physique will garner her fame (ex: Glamazon attacking with an umbrella). Hex Kitten (or, rather, Morgan) has been hushing up her alter ego and focusing on making money off of other heroes. While being outed as the feline super would garner attention for her company, she might not want the type she’d gain.
Parker is surprised, but it could be an act. Of course, this could be caused by someone we’re not even aware of being present like an invisible super or someone who can shrink themselves, ect. There’s always the option of this being caused by several people acting without the other’s knowledge.
Heh-heh-heh, ‘sqwuakie-talkie’–that pun just killed it for me. That and Sqwuakgirl’s Adam West-esque monologue…
And my money’s on Louie–he was the bartender for the event, probably wanted to make the night a bit more interesting.
I’m going to say Simon. He just sometimes seems that he would do something like that.. >:)
It’s Wallflower. She has the motive and she was close to Morgan during their time as superheroes.
I’m backing Wallflower.
Parker would be a nice twist, Morgan might have kept a sample of the elixir for some kind of emergency and/or some proof of her secret identity in the vault and revealing Morgan’s secret could be used as a nice distraction, or even creating a scapegoat, for Parker’s true plans…
However, my money is actually on Wallflower, she used to be around these gals in the past, she seems to be generally overlooked so she might have noticed something, she would have interest in all the having all the dirt on Glamazon come to the surface, and probably wouldn’t mind harming Morgan’s career in the process. On top of that she is one of the two people who do not seem very surprised at Morgan’s transformation (the other being Malefactor, and I don’t really buy the
good/evil doctor being much of a “magic elixir” type), in fact having this kind of pleased with herself smile ever since, and Morgan was sitting right next to Wallflower sipping a drink right before her transformation started…Aww, now I see Jude Deluca made the exact same observations I did…
Maybe this is the first part of Demonatrix’s plan to take over the hero business- by embarrassing one of their senior staff? I suspect that Parker wouldn’t actually do this to Morgan, because they’ve been portrayed as really good friends for most of the series. So maybe Demonatrix is trying to get Morgan to resign, then she’ll encourage Parker to take her place?
I doubt its purpose would be to get morgan to resign though a scandal at the hero business does sound like something which would benefit demonatrix
Wallflower…she had a grudge against both of them since their days together, is the only one NOT surprised by Morgan’s change, and was drinking with Morgan just before she turned into Hex Kitten.
Malefactor hasn’t seemed too surprised either.
Well, based off of events that have happened ‘on camera’ as it were, and barring Parker jabbing Morgan with a hypo, Parker’s not been in a position to spike Morgan’s beverage. There are 3 people who have been (at least in an implied manner) on screen. Lenny, as he is presumably the person mixing beverages, Wallflower by virtue of sitting directly next to her, and Morgan herself.
Personally, I’d bet on Wallflower.
Morgan’s drink could have been spiked via the use of a tiny spy-bot device, or even a teleporter, thus removing any need for the perpetrator even being on the same planet as Morgan, nonetheless the same room.
Of course, Simon is front and center…
I think it’s Fowler in his secret identity or disguise – maybe he’s the sleazy host.
I was thinking the same thing about the SH1 host. His hair looks like Fowler’s. Besides, Wallflower is too busy trying to impress Bud.
If the Host is Fowler, he might be exploiting people from his past just for the sake of improving his show’s ratings.
Or he might be annoyed about the book written by Glamazon and promoted by Morgan. These babes used him to score off each other years ago (fair enough you might say – he presumably got what he wanted) – but now they’re making him look like a prat in print. So that’s a reason to get both of them rather than just Glamazon
Just for the sake of bringing this whole Fowler thing to it’s fullest extent, maybe he’s “gone to the dark side” and may even be doing this for Demonatrix or some other villain.
Better question, who has the most to gain from an incident like this?
I’m probably the World’s Greatest Duh-tective, but I’ll take a stab at it anyway. As several others have said, Parker seems most likely due to her extremely suspicious earlier behaviour. She may (stress *may*) have it in for the Hero Business, and she’s doing some classic misdirection in the third and fourth panel – looking at a whole bunch of people and implying that any of them could be guilty.
Nope.. has to be Glam herself… to spice up her party.
Eli.
PS. I’m hopeless at Crossword Puzzles too.
I’m betting all my money on Waliflower: she had a motive, an opportunity and is the ONLY one present who didn’t react with some kind of surprise. (I’m counting those fanned out lines next to peoples heads – whatever they’re called – and gaping mouth as surprise) And that unbearably smug smile..!
…an a dollar on that sleazy reporter. Only suspect without known name? Could be a black horse.
Wallflower seems the most likely choice.
But I’m going to break from the crowd and say it was Bravado … but someone else talked/tricked him into it.
😉
Or utilized some kind of mind control device.
I am LOVING all the guesses and theories!! 🙂 I have a sharp bunch of readers!
Mrs White, in the Conservatory, with the Lead Pipe?
Eli.
Nope. The butler did it.
I’m gonna go ahead and guess “someone else”.
Assumign Parker really doesn’t know and it required a knowledge of said brew… It probably rules out Simon and Bravado (I kind of get the feeling Simon would have used it as leverage by now).
Louie is aware of Parker’s past and I’d imagine would fear recrimination from meddling with what she’s already working on..
Dr. M would find it amusing but as we’ve seen lately seems to prefer being employed over not being.
Minor Spoiler.. Would he need to do it?
Wallflower and Bud seems like an obvious choice but I want to hedge my bets on it being a misdirection.
Basically I don’t know but I’m excited to find out. 😀
Everyone featured in this week’s installment has a motive or explanation for causing this (although, I’ll admit some are better than others). If you want specifics, just ask about the specific person.
Both Bud and Wallflower were close enough to Morgan’s drink to spike it. And we didn’t see where she got it, but Louie was walking around with a tray of glasses that’s now empty, so the assumption would be he gave it to her. Those three seem to be the only ones who could have specifically targeted Morgan. Anyone else would have had to taint all the drinks and hoped the elixir would only effect her. Unless there’s an invisible presence in the room.
Her drink could have been spiked via the use of a tiny spy-bot device, or even a teleporter, thus removing any need for the perpetrator even being on the same planet as Morgan, nonetheless the same room.
while i’m sure Parke knew, i’m just as sure it’s not her cause she’s trying to preseve her cover
Or, it was her and she no longer needs to preserve her cover.
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that almost everyone at the party has been trying to bring this about, it’s just that each person didn’t know any of the others was trying to do the same.
If everyone is guessing, I’ll throw my hat in and say it might actually be Parker. Perhaps to give a distraction for something much more sinister. Like Harrow said, She’s pointing the finger at everyone else so Squawk Girl(The best detective at the party) is investigating every other perp except her ^.^ Just a hunch though
The answer is simple, and it’s also another partner in their little group, the plant girl did it.
Where’s the “All of the above mentioned”-option? :p
Ooo. ooo… *puts hand up*. Please, Sir, it was Morgan’s subconscious!
Eli…
Still no good at Crosswords.
Umm…Im going to take the longshot theorize it was a super contrived plot by trixie to somehow hook up with bravado XD
though the only ones in that room who don’t have a sizable motive are bug boy and bravado XD
shrinking the list to who we think might have been aware of the secret identity and you have…
Louie the Lounge Lizard who lacks a motive
Wallflower who was painfully bitter
and maaaaybe that sleazy sh1 host…
-_- typo~ how did i copypaste louies name instead? XD i meant minor spoiler ^_^;
Did no one else notice the shirt that said “Sidekicks are just mentor-ly unstable?” Also, great job as always, Bill! I was just re-reading the entire comic over, and it’s still as amazing as the first time!
What does that guy’s shirt say in the last frame? All I can make out is is sidekicks are
