Temp Month Entry #12: “Smite”
Temp Month continues — where you’ll be treated to different takes on the Hero Business universe through a series of special creators.
This entry is drawn by the talented Cynthia “Thea” Sousa Rodgers, written by Sam Machado and colored by Amanda Sousa Rogers. It’s a great piece, having fun with the angst-excess of the 90s. Love the expression on panel two! Smiiiiite!
Thea is one of the featured “The Line It Is Drawn” artists on Comic Book Resources’ “Comics Should Be Good.” You can check out more of her fabulous work here!
We still have TWO MORE Temp Comics in the next week! 🙂 Hang tight, Heroites!
Good call, Smite! While you’re at it, can you drag Simon down to Purgatory with you?
Aw, but we love Simon (don’t we?) 🙂
Y’see this is why they need to stop having clients who come from the 90’s, It’ll never work out.
I think Smite is the best character ever. At least until Gopher Girl shows up in HB canon 😉
Thea really did a bang up job on capturing Smite. I couldn’t stop laughing as she designed him!
y, it’s great!
HA! He looks like Dave Ghrol with a Fu Manchu ‘stache as a fan of Constantine.
Pity poor Gen-X: a thin McDonald’s hamburger patty sandwiched between the enormous buns of the Baby Boomers and the Millennials.
Don’t pity ’90s mainstream comics however: it was probably a low point.
Aw, there was actually a LOT of good 90s comics: Waid/Ringo Flash, Kesel/Grummett Superboy, Post-Zero Hour Legion of Super-Heroes, Carlin-era Superman Titles, David/Nauck Young Justice, Kingdom Come, Marvels, The Thunderbolts, Sandman, Shade: The Changing Man, Sin City, Astro City, Bone… and more I’m forgetting
That HB building totally looks like the tower of piza now. And run little stick figures! RUN!!!
This is spot on. Had there really been Smite in the 90’s, he would have ruled comics then.
Undoubtedly. That’s what I love about Temp Month…. it adds some great new characters to the Hero Business mythos!
Why does his makeover costume remind me of Zardoz?
Oh Simon, Simon, you should know better than to throw around ‘iconic’ like that!
Heh, right?
