Temp Month Entry #14: “Devil Dog”
Temp Month concludes this week — thanks to all the talented artists who treated us to different takes on the Hero Business universe!
This week’s comic is the second entry from Nick Perks. Devil Bat shares some similarities with Nocturnowl (my own ersatz Batman). And fans sure have a lot of fun poking holes at the whole “multiple Robins” scenario!
Nick is one of the featured “The Line It Is Drawn” artists on Comic Book Resources’ “Comics Should Be Good.” You can check out more of his fantastic work here!
Thanks again everyone! I’ll be returning with Walko-rific Hero Business goodness next week.
Even from beyond the grave, Fredrick Wertham’s accusations still haunt the comic book industry….
AHAHAHAHHAH!! Oh that is awesome 😀
Even the fearsome “Devil Bat”, underneath the superhero image, is an ordinary dude.
Somewhat relevant to this, evidence has surfaced that Wetham outright lied about the details of the cases he cited. Then again, as one person mentioned on a message board I frequent, Wertham’s actions forced the comics companies to focus on the superhero set, and stirred up publicity which probably ultimately saved the comics industry.
Why is it that I get the feeling that Devil Bat and Nocturnowl are great enemies that have moments of great understanding?
In their next reboot, it will transpire that they are brothers separated at birth. By aliens. Who may also be Gods. Disguised as gypsy witches.
